For a more contemporary style inside your new room, opt for spotlights to be fitted in the internal pelmet.
Benefits of Small Extensions
Small extensions are ideal for those looking to increase space in their property, without it looking different to the rest of their home. You can customise your new room to feature the same or a complementary colour scheme.
Another benefit of installing a smaller extension is the multitude of purposes it can be used for. From a new or extended kitchen to an exercise and wellness room, your new room is a blank canvas for you to use.
The toughened glass used in all conservatories will protect you from the elements.
Planning Permission For Small Extensions
Whether you are installing a new small conservatory, orangery or home extension into your home, you are likely to need planning permission. Planning permission is usually concerned with the façade of a building, how it will impact the immediate environment and highway access.
Before building your new room, you will need to ensure you do not live on a designated piece of land – including national parks and areas of outstanding beauty. As well as this, you will need to make sure your structure is not built beyond the principal or side elevation.
Consent should be granted as long as the width of the proposed build is not greater than half the width of your original home and the structure is single storey. If it exceeds 4m in height, you may not be granted planning permission. Including this, the materials used in the new structure may need to match the materials used in your original home.
There are many types of conservatories, orangeries and extensions available on the market and each has their own advantages and disadvantages. New uPVC windows and French doors that enhance this home
We recently completed a full window installation for a home in Stoke On Trent. The family were delighted with the result. They chose our classic white uPVC bay windows and French Doors to enhance their home. The attractive bay window style complements this older property. By projecting outwards, bay windows let in more light and also give the illusion of a larger room.
The Chamfered frames create slim sightlines to allow an unobstructed view. These replicate authentic timber windows and with a range of woodgrain finishes fit perfectly into traditional homes. They chose top openers for their windows which allows air flow control without comprising on security. Georgian bars were added to these to match with the traditional style of the home and add a decorative touch.
